Fruit trees for Auckland schools and early childhood centres

We had a wonderful day on Sunday the 7th of August 2011 providing 100 fruit trees to local schools and early childhood centres. All 100 fruit trees from the 2011 project now have their roots down in their new garden homes in schools and early childhood centres all over Auckland. We would like to thank all the teachers and parents for sharing our vision of free and healthy food by taking action and being involved in the ‘Citrus in schools’ project. We have three main aims with this project – to support families with lowering their grocery bills; to encourage local food production; and to teach children how to plant and care for fruit trees.

Our goal for July 2012 is to provide 3-5 fruit trees to all schools and early childhood centres in Auckland that register on our site. Schools and early childhood centres that have been part of this project in 2011 and have supplied us with pictures of happy trees are most welcome to apply for more fruit trees in 2012. If you want to be part of this project in 2012 and plant fruit trees at your school or early childhood centre please register below.

Best wishes, Your fruit tree ladies
